Omar García Harfuch resigns from the SSC CDMX to run for mayor of Mexico City

He left the position of Secretary of Citizen Security to collaborate with Claudia Sheinbaum on her “transformation” route.

The interim head of the Government of Mexico City, Martí Batres, announced that the Secretary of Citizen Security of Mexico City (SSC CDMX),  Omar García Harfuch informed him of his decision to leave office.

Harfuch would also be complying with the legal deadlines if he sought the candidacy to run for the Head of Government, since, according to article 19 of the local Code of Institutions and Electoral Procedures, to access said race it is required not to have command. in military or police institutions, “unless he leaves office before the start date of the corresponding electoral process,” which deadline was that day.

THE LETTER OF RESIGNATION

On social networks, @c4jimenez published the letter that García Harfuch apparently delivered to Martí Batres, where he expresses his complete willingness to collaborate in the transition process and transfer of his functions.

Harfuch arrived at the SSC CDMX in October 2019, at which time he was appointed head of the institution by the head of government, Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo, replacing Jesús Orta in office.
