Sleep in a wooden cabin overlooking the pine forests that characterize this Magical Town. There is hiking, horses, and a tour of legends.

Just two hours from CDMX is Villa del Carbón, one of the 10 Magic Towns belonging to the State of Mexico. It is a destination characterized by pine forests, rivers, and waterfalls, which lends itself both to ecotourism activities and to organizing a romantic getaway as a couple. Hiking, sport fishing in two famous dams and cycling are some of the things you can enjoy here.

In the town and its surroundings, there are several cabin complexes to disconnect for a few days and connect with nature. Here are some options that you can take advantage of on a weekend or a short vacation.

Rancho La Joya

A property that exists since the 1930s and has been run by the same family, which currently offers several lodging options for you to enjoy the land and take it as a starting point to get to know Villa del Carbón. Located 10 kilometers from the town, the ranch covers 6 thousand 55 square meters of green areas where you can go hiking, mountain biking, or have a bbq with your friends; there is a barbecue, swings for children, tree gardens with benches and hammocks to rest. In addition, it is pet-friendly.

This same year they inaugurated their Tree House: a cabin built entirely of wood, with a capacity for up to four people. It has a terrace that overlooks nature, equipped with a hammock and a bar with outdoor chairs, as well as an area for bonfires. It does not have a TV, so your plan must be a total disconnection. The rate to stay here starts at 800 pesos per night, on the official website.

The ranch has several independent rooms where you can stay, each with its own personality. Fresno, for example, is perfect for couples and faces a garden where your pet can play, while Roble looks towards a part of the forest; both have television. The price starts at 700 pesos, on the official website.

Rancho Los Madroños

This complex of rustic cabins is located almost 6 kilometers from the town, all different from each other: they can be one or two floors, with a terrace. Each one has a kitchenette, dining room, living room, and outdoor grill.

The price varies according to the design of the cabin and its space. You can go as a couple or with your family of five or six in the same cabin. The cheapest can be rented at 600 pesos per night, according to the official website.

If you prefer a totally intimate place, ask for the El Secreto cabin; It is 20 minutes from the ranch. It is practically a country house for a maximum of four people, with larger spaces and greater comfort. The night costs 1,200 pesos, on the official website.

This ranch offers several activities that you can hire separately, such as horseback riding, bonfires or bike rentals. There are also trails in the forest.

It has a restaurant, where pizzas and artisan bread are served.

Rancho San Miguel

It is located 12 kilometers from the town center. Its offer consists of wooden cabins for couples or families (there are double, triple or family, for up to 7 people). If you are going romantic, you can ask them to decorate your accommodation and add sandwiches or wine. Prices start at 779 pesos per night, through the official website.

The most complete cabin is the family one: it includes a living room with television, dining room, fireplace and even karaoke.

The ranch offers various activities in the surroundings. Every Saturday there is a night tour of legends, which begins at the facilities and continues to the ruins of a 19th-century hacienda. There is also the walking route to a nearby waterfall, in case you prefer a day activity.

If you book it, they will organize a picnic in the mountains or a romantic dinner in the open air, with a bonfire.

The ranch has a restaurant; do not miss their organic products, such as cheeses and blackberry jam.
