The cameras of the C5 (Command, Control, Computing, Communications and Citizen Contact Center) of Mexico City captured an unusual landing in the Historic Center area of Mexico City; find out here what happened between Balderas and Juárez Avenues, involving a parachute.
What happened at Balderas and Juárez?
Salvador Guerrero Chipres, director of the C5 in Mexico City, published the video today, December 9, 2025, of the moment the peculiar landing occurred on streets in the center of Mexico City.
According to the C5 director, a parachutist got stuck on a traffic light located between Balderas and Juárez, in the Cuauhtémoc borough.
Guerrero Chipres indicated that, in coordination between the C2 of the Historic Center of Mexico City and the Secretariat of Citizen Security (SSC), preventive follow-up was carried out “to verify that there was no damage or risks in the area.”
The skydiver was identified as a 36-year-old U.S. citizen who jumped from an ultralight aircraft.

The C5 video shows the moment the skydiver attempted to land but became entangled in a traffic light.
Fortunately, the avenue was completely empty when the man was left hanging for a few moments, his parachute attached to the traffic light.
The man then removed his parachute as at least three people rushed to his aid.
After the rough landing, the people tried to free the parachute, but the fabric wouldn’t budge against the wobbly traffic light.
After several minutes of maneuvering amidst cars already circulating on the avenue, they managed to launch the parachute without causing significant damage to the traffic light.
Near the end of the video, a Mexico City police patrol car can be seen arriving at the scene.
The American was detained by Mexico City police and brought before a judge; however, since no administrative offense was committed and no damage was caused, he was released.
