The Mexico City government announced today, December 9, 2025, that a total of five more Cablebús lines will be built to improve mobility for residents of the Mexican capital.
Here’s where these lines of the public transportation system, which began operating on July 11, 2021, in Mexico City and transports thousands of people daily, are planned to be built.
Where will the future Cablebús lines be located?
At a press conference, Mexico City Mayor Clara Brugada indicated that resources will be allocated to several projects next year.
He also announced the creation of five new Cablebús lines in Mexico City, located in the following boroughs:
Tlalpan-Coyoacán
Magdalena Contreras-Álvaro Obregón
Milpa Alta-Tláhuac
Cuajimalpa
Xochimilco
According to the Mexico City Electric Transportation Service (STE), the Cablebús is a safe and reliable option for users, with cabins that can accommodate up to 10 passengers each.
In addition to offering comfort and efficiency, the Cablebús stands out for its ability to significantly reduce travel times, benefiting residents of densely populated areas.
Currently, there are three lines of this public transportation system:
Line 1: Indios Verdes-Cuautepec (Gustavo A. Madero borough)
Line 2: Santa Marta-Constitución de 1917 (Iztapalapa borough)
Line 3: Los Pinos-Constituyentes Vasco de Quiroga (Miguel Hidalgo and Álvaro Obregón boroughs)
“These three lines have served more than 160 million passengers since their inauguration,” stated Andrés Lajous Loaeza, Head of the Railway Transportation Regulatory Agency (ARTF), in July 2025.
That same month, it was announced that Line 4 of the Mexico City Cablebús, at 11.4 km, would be the longest in the world, with an expected capacity to transport 65,000 people daily in just 40 minutes.
In announcing the Tlalpan-Coyoacán Cablebús Line 4 Project, Lajous Loaeza said there will be multiple connections, including 30 neighborhoods in Tlalpan, 9 neighborhoods in Coyoacán, and in particular, University City.
