Mexico City has countless hidden corners waiting to be explored, and others where nature converges in perfect harmony. This is the case with Xochimilco, which will be filled with sweet aromas and colorful, traditional delicacies during the holiday season with the 2025 Crystallized Sweets Fair.
Traditional sweets are an important part of Mexico’s culinary tradition; Their unique flavors, colors, and textures have captivated palates for decades. According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, they have pre-Hispanic and Spanish origins, adding a rich history to each of the sweets, a wide variety of which will be offered during this increasingly popular event.
When is the Crystallized Sweets Fair?
The Crystallized Sweets Fair has been held in the town of Santa Cruz Acalpixca since 1982. Its purpose is to showcase products such as chilacayote, pumpkin, carrot, and nopal, among other typical regional sweets, which are handcrafted into exotic sweets, according to the Xochimilco website.

The event brings together artisans from Santa Cruz Acalpixca who have been creating these types of sweets using the crystallization or caramelization technique for decades. What makes them even more attractive is that they are delicacies created with foods such as nopales, pumpkins, chilacayotes, and even carrots.
The Fair will be held from Friday, July 18th to Sunday, July 27th, in the Lázaro Cárdenas Plaza in Santa Cruz Acalpixca, in the Xochimilco borough.
How to get to Santa Cruz Acalpixca?
For those planning to attend the 2025 Crystallized Candy Fair by public transportation, one option is to take the Light Rail to the Xochimilco station. From there, head to the Fernando Celada Pier, where you can take a bus to Tulyehualco, which passes through Santa Cruz Acalpixca.
Another option is to go to the Tláhuac station on Metro Line 12 and from there take a bus to Tulyehualco. Once there, take a second bus to Xochimilco and get off at Santa Cruz Acalpixca.
