México te abraza” Program Delivers 22,756 Support Cards to Migrants Deported from the US

As deportations from the United States continue, Ariadna Montiel Reyes, Secretary of Well-being, announced that her office has distributed 22,756 support cards through the “México te abraza” program.

Most of these cards were handed out in Tijuana, Mexicali, Nogales, Ciudad Juárez, Sabinas, Nuevo Laredo, and Reynosa. Each card provides recipients with a cash stipend of 2,000 pesos, totaling an investment of 45 million 512 thousand pesos.

The purpose of the “México te abraza” program is to assist migrants who have been deported back to Mexico by providing them with financial support to help them return to their communities of origin. Secretary Montiel Reyes explained that these funds can be used to support migrants in various ways, including helping them cover transportation costs.

In addition to the distribution of support cards, Secretary Montiel Reyes also provided an update on the payment of pensions and social programs administered by her office. She reported that 8.7 million individuals have received financial assistance through these programs this month, including pensioners, people with disabilities, and mothers participating in the “Sembrando Vida” program.

The total investment in these social programs amounts to 44 billion 500 million pesos. Secretary Montiel Reyes reminded recipients of the payment schedule for pensions and social programs, which is based on the first letter of their last name.

She also mentioned that her office has been working on various projects related to the census and relief efforts following natural disasters such as Hurricane Otis and Hurricane John, which affected municipalities in Guerrero and Oaxaca.
