The parliamentary group of the PAN in the Senate announced that it has achieved a new suspension against the judicial reform, which was granted by a court in Yucatán.
The agreement issued on October 25 states that “the authorities identified as responsible, as executors, must not apply the decree that reforms, adds, and repeals various provisions of the Federal Constitution, published in the Official Gazette of the Federation on September 15, 2024.”
According to the PAN, the suspension was obtained from an injunction filed on October 14 by Senator Mayuli Latifa Martínez Simón from the state of Quintana Roo.
This injunction requires the authorities to refrain from executing any action related to the reformed provisions.
It also orders the Senate to suspend the Electoral Process and not proceed with the call to integrate lists and swear in the eventual winners of the election.
Additionally, it establishes that the state legislatures, the Congress of Mexico City, the National Electoral Institute (INE), and the Federal Judiciary Council (CJF) must refrain from executing the decree related to the judicial reform published in the Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF).
This is the second suspension obtained by the PAN this week. On October 22, the party announced that a third District Court in Baja California, based in Mexicali, granted an injunction following the amparo lawsuit filed by Senator Susana Zataráin and Senator Gustavo Sánchez.
The resolution includes the previously mentioned measures and additionally requests the Judiciary Council to guarantee the remuneration of judges.
