The United Nations are asking the Mexican government of Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador to reconsider the disappearance of autonomous institutes.
The office in Mexico of the High Commissioner of the United Nations (UN) asked the AMLO administration to reconsider the reform that eliminates the INAI.
According to the UN representatives, the disappearance of the National Institute of Transparency, Access to Information and Protection of Personal Data “could result in arbitrary or illegal interference in the privacy of citizens.”
The organization pointed out that the reform proposed by Obrador does not explain who or what entity will carry out the work of said organization if it disappears.
