With the emergence of new COVID-19 variants from the Omicron family, authorities are informing about the vaccines available in Mexico.

Although the pandemic ended a few months ago, a new increase in COVID-19 cases has been reported in Mexico, especially now that the variants JN.1, KP 2, and KP 3, classified as highly contagious, have appeared. Are there vaccines that protect you?

Authorities have once again recommended the use of face masks, which are not mandatory but could prevent a new wave of infections, especially in enclosed spaces, hospitals, and around people showing symptoms.

Alejandro Macías, a doctor from UNAM, reports that these variants JP.1, KP 2, and KP 3 belong to the Omicron family of the Coronavirus, characterized by being much more contagious and spreading rapidly.

The health authority advises staying alert but calm, assuring that many people will get infected with these new COVID-19 variants, but it will be mild since there is immunity in those who have been vaccinated.

Currently, it is reported that there are vaccines that act against these COVID-19 variants, which are the most updated ones and can be found in pharmacies and authorized sites, although they come at a cost.
