Mexico recorded the most pronounced growth in online sales in 2023

E-commerce in 2023 grew 24.6% in Mexico, the highest increase in the world. It surpassed countries such as the Philippines, Brazil, India and Japan, according to estimates from the AMVO.

Mexico ranked as the country with the highest growth in retail e-commerce in the world, according to the Online Sales Study of the AMVO (Mexican Association of Online Sales).

The value of electronic sales during 2023 amounted to 658,300 million pesos, a level that exceeded by 24.6% the previous record.

The growth of e-commerce in Mexico was higher than that of the Philippines, Malaysia, Argentina, India, Russia, Japan and Saudi Arabia.

It also increased the total number of internet users who make purchases online; 69.5 million Mexicans (52% of the population) use digital channels for commerce.

Smartphones positioned themselves as the main device for online shopping: 98% of digital buyers used their smartphone at least once.

Although the pandemic catalyzed e-commerce, the growth rate has moderated, but remaining at positive levels.
