The good moment of the Mexican economy is reflected in the world, from China to Marrakech.
Three stamps confirm it. For the first time in 20 years, Mexico displaced China as the main seller of goods to the United States, there is presence of Mexican tourism in the most exclusive areas and long-term appreciation with the World Cup.
A publication in the Spanish newspaper El País, related to the Marrakech hotel La Mamounia – one of the most expensive in the world – added a revealing element of the economic context of Mexico.
The note refers to the origin of most of the visitors: United States, France, England, Morocco, Spain and Switzerland. “Brazil is starting to stand out in the market, along with Mexico, which is the country that grows the most,” it is mentioned.
The strength of the peso against the dollar and a growing mood for travel are factors that have boosted the departures of Mexicans abroad. The most recent data from Inegi confirm it.
Only in the first five months of 2023, 5.6 million nationals traveled outside of Mexico, 10 percent more compared to the same period of a year earlier. Among the potentialized destinations are Spain, France, Italy, Croatia, Greece and Japan.
The best economic conditions are revealed in aspects driven by nearshoring. According to the Census Bureau of the US Department of Commerce, last year Mexico’s exports grew 4.8 percent, while China’s fell 20.3 percent.
In view of the 2026 World Cup, there is an estimate of an economic spill of at least 500 million dollars, as well as the creation of 12 thousand jobs.
There is wage recovery that allows families greater confidence in consumption and certainty in the possibility of saving; poverty levels have registered an unprecedented improvement.
According to the x-ray of the National Council for the Evaluation of Social Development Policy, 8.9 million people came out of poverty, the best result of the economic and social policy of the last 15 years.
None of the neoliberal governments preceding the presidency of Andrés Manuel López Obrador had achieved similar numbers.
Last month, when presenting the economic results, the Head of Government of the national capital, Martí Batres, highlighted the opening of 19,059 low-impact commercial establishments, as well as the capture of 10,580 million dollars of Foreign Direct Investment.
There is economic health.
