The intensity of the Winter Storm that will reach Mexico this Wednesday has caused the forecast to be adjusted, with heavier snowfall in certain states.

Not only is the Cold Front 11 causing havoc in national territory, the first Winter Storm in Mexico of the season will also be felt starting in the early hours of this Wednesday, November 22 and, according to the most recent reports, it will be stronger than as expected, which will favor more intense snowfall in certain parts of our country.

The phenomenon called DANA (whose acronym stands for Isolated Depression at High Levels), also known as the “Cold Vortex,” is responsible for Mexico experiencing some frost and subzero temperatures starting Wednesday, with a series of states affected, especially in areas high and mountainous.

Although it had been predicted that snowfall in Mexico this week would be exclusively in the mountainous areas of Chihuahua, Sonora and Durango, the panorama shared by the specialized site Meteored indicates that there will be more states affected with snow, which are listed below:

Durango

Southern Coahuila

Zacatecas

North of San Luis Potosí

Sierras of Nuevo León and Tamaulipas

High areas of Chihuahua and Sonora

The aforementioned portal indicates that the snow could reach up to 30 centimeters high in remote areas or mountains, while the average thickness would range between 5 and 10 cm for the previously mentioned regions.

The fourth week of November will be marked by low temperatures evident in much of the national territory, including Mexico City, where between 6 and 7 degrees are expected at dawn from Tuesday the 21st to Sunday the 26th.

To this Cold Front 11 in Mexico we must add the aforementioned Winter Storm #1, which, according to the National Water Commission, will affect 22 states of the country – to varying degrees – with rain, storms with hail, frost and presence of snow.

Among the entities listed are Jalisco, State of Mexico, Puebla, Guanajuato, Aguascalientes, Morelos, Querétaro, Hidalgo, Oaxaca, Sinaloa, Tlaxcala and Veracruz, plus those already mentioned
