Gas Bienestar workers demand that they fulfill their promises in salaries and commissions, as well as have better working conditions.
Several LP gas distributors, who work for the government company Gas Bienestar, met outside the Añil Storage and Distribution Terminal in the Iztacalco mayor’s office, at the facilities owned by Petróleos Mexicanos (Pemex), where they denounced the breach of your contract.
According to the indications of the distributors of LP gas, they were promised a salary of 8,000 pesos to the drivers and 6,000 to the assistants, this per month, and aside from the commissions, but they are only giving them a little more than half of what agreed.
Almost two weeks after its formal operation, the project of the president, Andrés Manuel López Obrador already presents setbacks, the workers also accuse that their working conditions are not the best because in addition they are not being paid what they promised, they do not have the benefits required by law.
To this is added that they have not been provided with the necessary equipment for their work, on August 31 during the start of Gas Bienestar, the general director of Pemex, Octavio Romero Oropeza, boasted the uniform that would be being given to the distributors.
“This is the wardrobe that our fellow drivers and assistants are going to wear, (…) there are the camisole, overalls, safety belt, helmet and cap, and gloves,” he said at the morning conference on August 31.
The workers asked to be listened to and to comply with what was promised, since once they finished their training they would be given this monthly payment of 8,000 and 6,000 pesos, respectively, however, it has already concluded and they are being followed. paying around 1,000 pesos a week.
So far it is known that the authorities were already receiving the workers to attend to their demands.
According to government plans, Gas Bienestar will be operating in all of Mexico City in January.
Gas Bienestar responds
After the demonstration made by distributors of Gas Bienestar for breach of contract, the federal administration company indicated that there are elements to consider that it is an action promoted to boycott “this project with social benefit.”
Gas Bienestar responded through a statement that it complies with all the rights and benefits of the law for its workers, which is even higher than that of other gas companies.
“With strict adherence to the conditions indicated in the call (that Pemex made to hire), they are provided with a base salary, legal benefits, and 100% social security,” assured Gas Bienestar.
It also points out that it does not force anyone to work in a company created for the benefit of people with fewer resources and that generates jobs in Mexico City.
