The Mexican government had said the reason for the delays was a failure of the FAA’s internet provider.

The problems registered in the flight plans between Mexico and the United States are not attributable to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA, for its acronym in English), but are directly the responsibility of the Mexican authority, said a source in the United States government who knows of the failures to El Financiero.

On Wednesday, the Mexico City International Airport (AICM) registered more than 165 flights with delays due to the failure in communication between pilots and control towers.

The Mexican government indicated that this occurred due to failures of the FAA’s internet provider.

However, the source specified that the problem that affected thousands of passengers is on the Mexican side and has nothing to do with breakdowns in communication systems or connections to the US authority’s network.

On the other hand, the FAA told this newspaper, through electronic communication, that the good plans are being coordinated manually until the interruption in telecommunications is resolved.

On Wednesday, the Ministry of Communications and Transportation assured that a “failure in the FAA caused delays in AICM operations.”

The government even only reported 22 flights affected during the first hours of the contingency. However, by 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, more than 165 flights had suffered delays of more than two hours and not only of up to 20 minutes. , as the agency also assured in a statement.
