The tenth edition of the “Gato Fest” will seek to help more than 1,500 felines in CDMX

Gato Fest 2021 will be virtual and will seek to help more than 1,500 felines in CDMX

In its tenth edition, the Gato Fest seeks to raise awareness and inform about the care of felines and promote responsible adoption.

In 2020, more than 49 thousand stray cats were registered in the streets of Mexico City, which is a result of the abandonment of pets by people during the health contingency caused by Covid-19, many inhabitants had economic problems. Faced with this situation, they preferred to leave the felines to their fate, since so far the pandemic has increased by 15 percent the abandonment of cats in Mexico.

Due to the cruelty with which certain people behave, events such as the “Gato Fest” have arisen, with which activists seek to help, protect and provide a new opportunity for felines, which are often victims of abuse by humans in CDMX.

This year’s edition has the motto “For a dignified life“, in addition to the fact that Gato Fest 2021 will have to be carried out virtually on social networks on May 15 and 16, with a schedule of 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM. With the goal of collecting more than 11 tons of cat food to help 1,500 kittens located in different shelters in Mexico that, like various sectors of the population, have been hit by the pandemic.

During the virtual event, specialist conferences on feline behavior will be held.
