Interjet cancels all flights until Thursday, Dec. 17

Interjet will cancel its 66 domestic flights scheduled for tomorrow, Wednesday and Thursday, according to information from the airline and employee testimonials.

“Due to operational needs, the following cancellations are confirmed,” reads an email sent today to company staff.

The flights were to and from Mexico City, Monterrey, Guadalajara, Cancun, San José del Cabo, Merida, Cozumel, Tijuana, and Hermosillo.

With this, Interjet will add seven consecutive days without operating, since since last Friday it canceled all its flights.

This will be the longest period without operations of the airline, until now, since at the end of last November and the beginning of this month it canceled flights for five days in a row.

Two Interjet employees confirmed that they were notified of the flight cancellations scheduled for this week, without the airline giving details.

However, one of them pointed out that, unofficially, in recent days it was mentioned within the company that it does not have the resources to pay for the fuel supply.

In addition, the parastatal Airports and Auxiliary Services (ASA) confirmed last Thursday that, until that moment, Interjet had not paid for the service.

Currently, the airline operates with a prepaid system, which implies that it must first settle the service for each operation.

Interjet can choose to make payments only for certain operations.
