The name of Pío López Obrador and brother of our current president once again was trending topic in all the national media, after a series of videos were broadcast where he was seen receiving large amounts of money delivered by the former national coordinator of Civil Protection, David León Romero.

Pío López Obrador, brother of the current president Andrés Manuel López Obrador, was born on May 21, 1959 in Tepetitlán Mexico, a sociology graduate student and candidate for the PRD and PT for federal deputation of District IX in Chiapas in 2019.

Although the trajectory of Pío López is not so well known, the controversies had already touched his name in 2019, when an investigation carried out by national media accused him of political interference in the state of Chiapas.

According to the information, the president’s brother had requested budgetary funds in exchange, that of access to loans and protection of auditing bodies, where 21 Chiapas mayors agreed to the proposal.

The intervention carried out together with Ismael Brito, Secretary of the Government of Chiapas, and which at that time was fundamental for the mayors of Chiapas to join the project headed by the state governor, Rutilio Escandón, according to the testimonies collected in the investigation.
